Hi everyone!
I recently attended my first SCA event in May. It was loads of fun and I can't wait to go back. Was wondering if there's anyone in the Subeta community who's also a part of the Society of Creative Anachronism.
:) Cheers
Welcome to the dream/game (depends on who you talk to) I am Lord Biǫrn Atlason from the Barony of Aquaterra (formerly of the Barony of Blatha an Oir before I moved) in Kingdom of An Tir.
I am a 9th century Dane from outside Hedeby
In society I am a herald, an archer and weapon thrower with an interest in siege weaponry. As an archer I am also Arcarius to Lief Moonshadow Daleson. Well met
:D Well met, Lord Biǫrn
I'm from Kingdom of Caid that's about as much as I know :)
That's awesome you do archery, my camp bought me my first bow last month!
I know Kingdom of An Tir is close, right?
An Tir is Washington, Oregon, Northern Idaho, and British Columbia
And here is my entry on the An Tir Culture Wiki http://antir.sca.wiki/index.php?title=Bi%C7%ABrn_Atlason
:o wow! there's so much stuff to do and learn!
It's so super overwhelming.
Heraldry is cool, do you do that as a volunteer with the SCA?
What about brewing? At the last festival I was surprised to see so many homemade brews.
I'm going to take as many classes as I can at the next one. Any tips for volunteering and/or beginners classes?
I volunteer as a herald in an unofficial sense as I am not a kingdom or baroioal officer (Im considered a herald at large) Ive taught mead making at events in the past and there are some barons and baronesses who refer to the brew I make as "Tastes like... more" I do volunteer a lot at the thrown and archery ranges
That sounds really interesting. I'd probably join if I didn't have agoraphobia. I mean I doubt there's any groups around where I live and I'm moving anyways.

I went to a SCA event last fall since I was invited by a friend. It was fun but being a member seems like a whole lot of work.
I also discovered the joys of baked apples with honey. It was sooooo good.
